Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull
of Australia recently mentioned that the immigration policy followed by the
country is non-discriminatory and there will no changes in it in future. This
statement from Prime Minister Turnbull came after a controversial statement was
made by television host Sonia Kruger in which she stated that Australia should
close its borders to Muslim immigrants.
Kruger was there on Today show
this Monday when she extended her support to an article in Herald Sun by Andrew
Bolt in which terror attacks in France were linked with Muslim immigrants.
Kruger had mentioned that she
personally believes that the article published by Andrew Bolt has a point and
there is a direct link between terrorist attacks and the number of Muslims in a
given country. She called for Australian government to take appropriate actions
to secure the borders of the country.
Mr. Turnbull was quick to clear
the stand of Australian government sitting the recent statements. He clearly
mentioned that Australian immigration policies does not discriminate people on the basis of their religion or color.
Mr. Turnbull put aside the
statements made by TV personalities by saying that he will not make a commentary
on the comments made on television. All that he knows is Australia has always
followed a non-discriminatory policy for many, many years and it will continue
to do so.
Religion and race should never be
